UL Listing for Antique, Vintage & Reproduction Fixtures

At Clark Vintage Lighting, we provide UL listings for antique, vintage, and reproduction hardwired wall and ceiling fixtures under our UL1598 certification. Every UL-listed piece is rewired, rebuilt, and documented to meet current safety standards for residential, commercial, and designer installations.

We UL-list both customer-owned fixtures and pieces purchased from our shop.

What “UL Listed” Means

A UL-listed fixture has been certified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), an independent safety organization, to meet nationally recognized electrical, mechanical, and fire-safety standards. This designation is often required by:

• Building codes

• Electrical inspectors

• Insurance companies

• Commercial and hospitality projects

Our UL Listing Process

Every fixture is evaluated and rebuilt in our Massachusetts studio. This includes:

• Full inspection

• Removal of all old wiring

• Replacement with UL-approved components

• Proper strain relief and grounding

• Verification of socket type and wattage

• Documentation of all materials used

We follow UL standards closely and maintain detailed records for every listed piece.

Important Notes About UL Listings

To maintain compliance and protect our certification:

• We are UL-listed under UL1598 (hardwired wall and ceiling fixtures)

• Portable lamps (UL153) cannot be UL-listed in our studio, though they can be rewired for safe use. However, for larger jobs, we can coordinate directly with UL to get them listed (this can be expensive)

• Fixtures that hang from their own cord or wire cannot be UL-listed

• Even if your existing parts are UL-approved, they must be removed and replaced with parts that we have inspected, documented, and installed

• We cannot certify work performed by another shop

• All electrical components must be replaced by us

• Some design changes may be required to meet UL standards

• Not all fixtures can be UL-listed, but most can be made safe for everyday use

Designers, architects, and commercial clients often need UL-listed fixtures for:

• Residential projects

UL Listing Fee

Our fee for UL listing is $25 per fixture.

If you choose to have your fixture rewired without a UL listing, Clark Vintage Lighting cannot be held responsible for any inspection issues, code requirements, or insurance-related consequences.
